Project CGRP

by Sylvie Ducki - 23 March 2012

All the versions of this article: English , français

CGRP is a neuropeptide, composed of 37 amino acids, which has several physiological functions and which is widely distributed in the peripheral central nervous system. Thus the neurons containing CGRP modulate the function of immunized, respiratory, endocriniens, gastro-intestinal, musculo-skeletal and cardiovascular systems. The presence of CGRP and its receptor in brain tissues is closely associated with the modulation of the transmission of pain.

The objective is to design a new family of potential tricyclic antagonists of the CGRP receptor which plays an important role in the modulation of the inflammatory pain.
